Description

I didnʼt understand why there are multiple tabs in the template window. Having multiple tabs in the template document window as well as multiple document (MDI) support is rather confusing. Why is it there? Surely an single document interface with tabs like browser tabs would make more sense? Is it really helpful to the users to have MDI and tabs?

The problem we have:

  • multiple layouts
  • every layout have many page sequences and regions dedicated to it.

Earlier, when tabs are introduced, we had less complex combination: one layout only, title page sequence, main page sequence (with up to 4 regions attached) and tail page sequence, e.g. from 1 to 7 tabs available.

Now, this way is broken, and we need to find such way to use not tabs but other paradigm.

Possible ways are:

  • big big editor area where all pages are displayed sequentially as MS Word doing.
  • such kind of navigation bar instead of tabs.

Big editor area have an such technical limitations for big layouts, and will need aggressive scrolling.

From other way, navigation bar can be used either with per-page editor area approach or with single edit space.

So, we propose to make first navigation bar (indicating page sequences and regions visually), and if it will not be enough - use big edit space.
